Vocal Noise Cancellation from Respiratory Sounds
نویسنده
چکیده
Although background noise cancellation for speech or electrocardiographic recording is well established, however when the background noise contains vocal noises and the main signal is a breath sound, the problem becomes challenging as the signal and noise are no longer uncorrelated. In this paper, a technique for detecting the vocal noise within a breath sound and then removing it without hampering the main components of the breath sound is discussed. The results of this study show that the developed technique is successful and feasible in time domain. This technique may also be used to detect and separate wheezes from breath sounds in clinical assessments.

Time-shared channel identification for adaptive noise cancellation in breath sound extraction
Noise artifacts are one of the key obstacles in applying continuous monitoring and conrputer-assisted analysis of lung sounds. Traditional adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) methodologies work reasonably well when signal and noise are stationary and independent. Clinical lung sound auscultation encounters an acoustic environment in which breath sounds are not stationary and often correlate with ...
متن کاملRecursive Least Squares Adaptive Noise Cancellation Filtering for Heart Sound Reduction in Lung Sounds Recordings
It is rarely possible to obtain recordings of lung sounds that are 100% free of contaminating sounds from nonrespiratory sources, such as the heart. Depending on pulmonary airflow, sensor location, and individual physiology, heart sounds may obscure lung sounds in both time and frequency domains, and thus pose a challenge for development of semi-automated diagnostic techniques. In this study, r...
متن کاملAdaptive-Filtering-Based Algorithm for Impulsive Noise Cancellation from ECG Signal
Suppression of noise and artifacts is a necessary step in biomedical data processing. Adaptive filtering is known as useful method to overcome this problem. Among various contaminants, there are some situations such as electrical activities of muscles contribute to impulsive noise. This paper deals with modeling real-life muscle noise with α-stable probability distribution and adaptive filterin...
متن کاملA multi-feature approach for noise detection in lung sounds
During the acquisition of lung sounds, several sources of noise can interfere with the recordings. Therefore, the detection of noise present in lung sounds plays an important role in the correct diagnosis of several pulmonary disorders such as in chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. Denoising tools reported so far focus mainly in the detection of abnormal lung sounds from the background nois...

This paper presents a new ultra-wideband LNA which employs the complementary derivative superposition method in noise cancellation structure. A pMOS transistor in weak inversion region is employed for simultaneous second- and third-order distortion cancellation. Source-degeneration technique and two shunt inductors are added to improve the performance at high frequencies. The degeneration induc...
